Tulsi, Tulasi or Vrinda (Holy Basil) is a sacred plant in Hindu belief. Hindus regard it as an earthly manifestation of the goddess Tulsi; she is regarded as the avatar of Lakshmi, and thus the consort of the god Vishnu.(straight from Wikipedia) .

So yes. Tulsi is a fussy (read special) Plant those of you who have/had it …know. I have memory of numerous homes (and movies) where it is kept in a special place ..away from the rest…As a child I have often wondered why..if…god’s did not think other plants were special..like my custard apple tree.. anyway I digress.

After years of trying to “grow” tulsi..and diligently following advise of keeping her separate..she needs special treatment…water her only after a bath….she does not like other plants…etc etc. (Yes I believed ALL that). When everyone is doing that..there is no reason or impetus to question it…right?…

I did ALL that and yet many of my tulsi plants just ..withered away..(when all other plants grew).

So clearly something was not right..maybe the “Story” of separate ..special was a Lie?? maybe….hummm

4 months ago…I decided to ..more out of frustration and surrender than by design..bring her out to meet the others…I mean if she was going to die..she might as well meet “her own”…and treat her “normally”. NO separate treatment..she was next to other plants.. . some had some fungus also at one point...got watered the same way… weeded the same way.

And here she is after 4 months of No Special treatment ..she Flourishes…healthier ad happier.

The Lie of Separateness is called out. And Life ..reclaims it rightful abundance.

Making something Special or shaming ....can both sometimes create separation ..and just as much a way of exclusion..and perpetuate the idea of separateness.

Note to Self: Every now and then…it’s good to test and experiment with some “Beliefs” ..and surrender. Just because majority believes does not make it truth. And between two beliefs..it’s a free fall.
